HOLLYWOOD OUTDOOR MOVIES
FLIFF presents weekly free outdoor movies for familes in Hollywood's Arts Park. Its all free compliments of The City of Hollywood. Films screen on Friday evenings under the stars just after sundown.
FLIFF and The City of Fort Lauderdale have partnered on a variety of programs. During 2011, FLIFF, in honor of Fort Lauderdale's Centennial, a screening of historical montages on buildings throughout the City's five districts was accomplished. The concept was conceived and produced by FLIFF Board member, Wil Shriner. Wil has directed countless television shows as well as the film HOOT.
Every year, the City celebrates its retro roots by presenting THE GREAT AMERICAN BEACH PARTY. The party is held on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, located on A1A and the beach right in front of the legendary Elbow Room. All day long 60's groups perform on the City's mobile bandshell directly situated on A1A. Classic cars, hula hoop contests, sand castle building competitions, food, and fun take center stage throughout the day.
Just after sundown, FLIFF's 30 foot screen goes up and 2500 revelers bring their beach chair to plop down in front and watch a film. 2010 was the inaugural year and FLIFF presented the film that put Fort Lauderdale on the map, WHERE THE BOYS ARE with our special guest, Connie Francis.
In 2011, FLIFF revealed the Elvis film GIRL HAPPY shot in 1965. The film is also about Spring Break...but in a cost saving move, was shot entirely in California (Booo!).
Each year, FLIFF is thrilled to play an integral role in its community and looks forward to the continued support from citizens and visitors like you, to keep the festival going.
