A Vacation from Ordinary Film.
Country of Origin: U S A In the late 70's/early 80's, South Florida had one of the most eclectic original music scenes in the country. Bands like The Eat, The Reactions, The Front, The Cichlids, Charlie Pickett & The Eggs and dozens more were making a new kind of racket in the land that time forgot. By 1985, it was all over.
Invisible Bands combines interviews with local music luminaries and never-before-seen footage to tell the true story of South Florida's original punk/new wave scene. It aint pretty.
Immediately following the film (9:45PM-11:45PM), there will be special live performances by:
-Charlie Pickett
-DT Martyrs
-Mr. Entertainment & The PookieSmackers
-Rat Bastard
-To Be Hated
-90's Teen
Bands will be covering songs by such legendary local groups as The Eat, The Reactions, The Front, The Cichlids, Gay Cowboys in Bondage, Myron & The 2 Wotz, Spanish Dogs, The Essentials and more!
Also, DJ Skidmark will be spinning your favorite local tunes all night.
In the courtyard patio, there will be a gallery showing of artwork created by several of the films subjects - many who have gone on to become accomplished artists.
Proceeds from this event will go to the Stranahan High School Music Dept in honor of Pete Moss (Peter Murtha 1962-1997), who attended the school and was an integral part of the scene.
