FLIFF 2006

FLIFF 2006 began as a year of renovations and rebounding from the ravages of 2005 Hurricane Wilma, yet by year end FLIFF presented one of our most successful and entertaining Annual Film Festivals in its history.

The 2006, 21st Annual event was brimming with wonderful films, special guests, and signature events. Though films were as always, centerstage...the parties were just as memorable aboard yachts, the Tiki Beach Barge, and at a variety of trendy night clubs and fabulous restaurants. Our Sundance Festival Café and Toast to Humanity Wine lounge was a tremendous hit for casual chats after films. And, having Gallery One Fort Lauderdale as our host hotel, provided opportunities to gather late night or stop for a quick coffee and chat with staff at FLIFF’s hospitality suite throughout the day.

Wonderful new friendships and memories were made over the month-long festival.

Looking back
Parker Playhouse was packed for opening night film Pedro Almodovar’s VOLVER, the hilarious PITTSBURGH starring Jeff Goldblum, the heart-warming CANVAS with Joe Pantoliano, the beautifully filmed and touching story LOCAL COLOR, and so many other great films.

The red carpet lined with media covering stars including Director Mel Stuart, Joe Pantialano, Michelle Philips, Shiva Rose, Ernie Hudson, Trevor Morgan, Connie Francis and … a huge 6 ft shark that traveled from theatre to theatre and other locations around Ft. Lauderdale luring people to see the amazing documentary SHARKWATER.

Awards
The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, proudly announced the 2006 film awards on Saturday November 11 during FLIFF Uncorked! at Hollywood Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa and Sunday, November 12 at La Playa Mediterranean Restaurant. For a complete list of film award recipients, click here

Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival
October 15 - November 11 2007

Cinema Paradiso
503 SE 6th ST.
Fort Lauderdale, FL. 33301

(954) 525-FILM

The 22nd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (October 15 - November 11, 2007) is the world's longest *Guiness World Recods), the oldest consecutively running Florida fest, Florida's top rated film fest (Florida Arts Council) and one of Broward's five Major Cultural Institutions. With 200 screenings of 150 films in venues stretching from Key West to Boca Raton, FLIFF serves the widest constituent base of any festival in the country. In addition to our award winning programs of world and American independent film, FLIFF also provides free film seminars, free films for kids, free outdoor family movies, and a variety of gala events.

The 2007 FLIFF introduces two new venues. The stunning Miniaci Theatre for the performing Arts on the Nova Southeastern University campus in Davie will host our Gala Opening Night (Oct 19) plus films on October 21, November 4 – 9. On November 11, we will feature four Official Closing Day films in the Miniaci.

The Festival moves to The Regal Cypress Creek on October 24 – 30, where we will feature two theatres playing films from 1pm – 10pm.

When we are not at The Miniaci or The Regal, we are back at home base with films and special events at Cinema Paradiso. On October 31st, the 3rd Annual BOO-tacular will take place at Cinema Paradiso. From 6 – 8pm, kids can enjoy our Pumpkin Patch, Haunted House, Costume & Scream Contests, Halloween movies (easy on frights for the little ones) and treats. At 9pm things get scary for the older crowd!

There will be several free outdoor movies including Blockbusters at Pompano Fashion Square (Oct 13 & Nov 10), Weston Regional Park (Oct 20 & 17), Huizenga Plaza (Oct 27 & Nov 24), and foreign films at Hollywood’s ArtsPark (Oct 11 & Nov 8).

The Official Entre Nous Opening Night party will take place at Signature Grand, just a five minute drive from The Miniaci. With celebrities in attendance, a live band, a fabulous silent auction and sumptuous buffet, this is one of the best known FLIFF events.

With year-round programming at Cinema Paradiso and throughout South Florida, FLIFF is a vacation from ordinary film.
